About Me.

My name is Katie, and I am a highly qualified canine behaviour professional specialising in ethical, fear-free training and enrichment-led care. I have worked professionally with dogs for over ten years, supporting individuals across a wide range of backgrounds — from family companions to rescue dogs and working dogs.

My career began in 2016 while studying veterinary nursing and behaviour at university. During this time, I took on a Border Collie named Nell, who was at risk of being put to sleep due to severe reactivity and behavioural challenges. Working with Nell not only changed the course of her life, but also shaped my professional path. Supporting her complex needs ignited a deep commitment to helping misunderstood dogs through evidence-based, compassionate training.

I went on to qualify in canine behaviour while working within dog training kennels, later gaining experience in rescue environments, veterinary settings and security dog training kennels. These varied roles have given me a broad, practical understanding of canine behaviour, welfare and learning — experience that continues to inform my work today.

After Nell passed away in 2021, I welcomed Ember into my life — a sensitive Collie from a poor breeding background. Through Ember, I have continued to deepen my understanding of dog behaviour, confidence-building and the importance of agency in training.

Scent-based work, particularly mantrailing, has played a significant role in her development and remains central to my professional practice.

I am a qualified Mantrailing Global Instructor and UK Scent Sport Instructor and Assessor, and I am passionate about the profound benefits scent work can offer dogs of all ages, breeds and temperaments.

My approach is modern, force-free and centred on cooperative care, with a strong emphasis on enrichment, emotional wellbeing and choice.

Alongside my in-person services, I also offer carefully designed online courses, allowing guardians and professionals to access structured, ethical training wherever they are.

I am DBS checked, fully insured, and committed to continued professional development to ensure my knowledge remains current and evidence-led.

Environmental responsibility and respect for wildlife are fundamental to how I operate. From my plastic free ethos to low-impact training practices, every aspect of my work is intentionally designed to be thoughtful, sustainable and kind — to dogs, people and the wider world.
